Frequently Asked Questions

Got a Pink Lane question? Maybe we can help with one of our answers here…

How do I order a cake from you?

You can order from our whole range of flavours plus vegan and a wheat free option here. Our celebration cakes are freshly made to order so we have a three day lead time. You can order up to six months in advance, just fill in the time and date of collection at the checkout. You can add a short personal message to your cake if you like.

Our cakes are made by our skilled pastry chefs in Gosforth so collection is from our shop there. We have a delivery service with our zero carbon courier partners BUD couriers if you’d like your cake to come to you. Theres a small charge for delivery. We don’t offer collection from our other shops.

We don’t make any other bespoke cakes or do novelty decoration. We do make wedding cakes – have a look at some examples and enquire here.

Can I set up a wholesale account with you?

You’ll have spotted our products in cafes, restaurants, galleries and venues across the city. We have very little wholesale capacity left for bread currently but if you’d like a good range of savoury products or cakes and traybakes from us we’d love to help there. Get in touch on the contact form below, we offer delivery within Newcastle for orders over a minimum but don’t deliver to other areas.

Do you do catering?

We do! Have a look at our full range of lovely lunches, breakfast pastries and cake boxes here. We use our freshly baked bread for bite sized sandwiches and make little versions of our favourite savoury pastries plus fresh salads and beautiful cake slices for a really premium catering selection. You can order catering online (we have a three day lead time). If you’d like corporate catering or to be invoiced for your order you can set up an account with us. Email us at catering@pinklanebakery.co.uk and we’ll sort that out for you.

I’m looking for work, can I send my CV to you?

We’re happy to receive CVs to jobs@pinklanebakery.co.uk including a bit about you and your availability and we do often fill vacancies with people proactive enough to apply that way. We’re especially interested to hear from people who have production skills and want to join our baking teams. We can’t always respond to your enquiry due to the volume we receive. We advertise vacancies on our social media and the jobs site Indeed when they do come up so keep an eye out there. For Front of House roles we’re particularly looking for good flexibility with the days you can work and barista skills are super important too.

Do you make any gluten free products?

We’re a really traditional artisan bakery using a lot of flour so we can’t say any of our products are free from gluten contamination. For that reason our wheat free products aren’t suitable for celiacs and we don’t make any gluten free bread. We do have a selection of wheat free cakes including our lovely almond blueberry friands and lemon polenta cake. We don’t make any products that are wheat and dairy free.

I’m doing a sponsored walk/organising a ball/running a raffle can you donate any products/vouchers/sponsor me?

We get so many of these requests as you can imagine. Our charity giving prioritises a local and community connection and is chosen in discussion with our staff team. We sponsor Gosforth Bohemians women’s football and give the profits from a product chosen monthly to a cause dear to the heart of one of the team that made it.

We don’t extend our charity giving to any unsolicited requests.

Can I come for work experience?

We love meeting people with an enthusiasm for baking and we love passing on the wealth of skill we’ve built up in our teams. We do accept work experience placements but we do need to balance teaching with the needs of our business- training you takes up the time of our skilled senior production team. So we prioritise work experience applications with lots of detail about exactly why you’d like to come and work alongside us, your current level of skill, particular areas you’re interested in and what you bring- great teamwork? Good listening skills? We’ll try and fit you in to our busy production schedule for a week or two if we can.

We get a lot of applications for the popular July school work experience week, and can only accept one or two of these from applicants who can really explain why they’d like to come here. We want an application from the student, not your mum! These slots fill up fast.

Email any work experience applications to jobs@pinklanebakery.co.uk

Are your shops and café dog friendly?

Your well behaved dog is welcome in our café, and now we also welcome dogs in all our shops. We used to ask you to leave your dog outside in Gosforth but now with our updated counter they’re welcome inside on a lead.
